From more than 5,500 applications, the University of Toledo has selected 175 students for its new class of medical students, an accomplishment that highlights the university’s exceptional medical education program. This year’s incoming students experienced a beloved rite of passage during the recent white coat ceremony, during which they received their first white coats as future medical professionals. The university also recognizes students pursuing careers in other health professions programs through upcoming white coat ceremonies.
For 30 years, the white coat ceremony has been a rite of passage for incoming medical students nationwide. For UToledo’s newly selected class of medical students, the ceremony took place in Nitschke Hall, during which each student received a white coat, signifying their commitment to becoming a medical professional. The ceremony marks an exciting moment for future doctors, and it’s a testament to their hard work and perseverance to gain admission into UToledo’s medical program.
UToledo recognizes students’ accomplishments in other health professions programs through upcoming white coat ceremonies. The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences will hold a professional advancement ceremony for students in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program and the Pharmaceutical Sciences Program on August 24th. The College of Health and Human Services also salutes their incoming Doctor of Physical Therapy program students on August 24th with their white coat ceremony.
The College of Medicine and Life Sciences prepares students for healthcare services in other disciplines. The Physician Assistant Program will have their white coat ceremony on August 21st, and Biomedical Sciences Program students will have their lab coat ceremony on September 7th. Additionally, the College of Nursing pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in nursing students will get their white coat ceremony on September 12th. Graduate-Entry Master of Science in nursing students will experience theirs on September 26th.
